The Girl Who Loved Storms

Narrator

The city looked beautiful from a distance.

From rooftops, it was a sea of lights stretching endlessly beneath the night sky. People called it alive.

But for Navya it looked like a graveyard.

Rain poured from the heavens, washing over the empty streets below. Thunder rumbled in the distance, shaking the clouds that hung low above the city.

She stood alone on the rooftop edge.

The cold wind tangled her dark hair and stung her skin, but she didn't move.

She welcomed the storm.

Storms never lied.

People did.

Navya closed her eyes and tilted her head toward the rain.

Memories clawed at her mind.

Promises.

Lies.

The sound of a door slamming.

The feeling of being abandoned.

The ache never disappeared.

She had simply learned how to carry it.

A loud crash echoed from the alley below.

Her eyes opened instantly.

Someone was there.

Two men stumbled backward into the rain, fear written across their faces.

And standing between them—

Was him.

The stranger.

Dark clothes.

Broad shoulders.

A dangerous stillness.

The kind that made people instinctively step away.

One of the men raised a trembling finger.

"You don't know who you're messing with."

The stranger laughed softly.

Not because he found it funny.

But because he didn't care.

The sound sent a chill through the air.

A moment later, the men ran.

They didn't look back.

Neither did the stranger.

He simply stood there, rain dripping from his black coat.

Then, as if sensing her gaze—

He looked up.

Straight at her.

Navya froze.

For one impossible second, the world seemed to stop.

Thunder roared overhead.

The city lights blurred behind him.

And those dark eyes locked onto hers.

He shouldn't have been able to see her.

Not from that distance.

Yet somehow...

It felt as though he could.

The stranger tilted his head slightly.

Curious.

Interested.

Dangerous.

Navya stepped back from the edge.

Every instinct screamed the same warning.

Leave...... Now.......

Without another glance, she turned and disappeared into the shadows of the rooftop stairwell.

But even as she descended the stairs, one thought refused to leave her mind.

The stranger's eyes.

Cold.

Broken.

Familiar.

As though they carried the same darkness she had spent years trying to survive.

Little did Navya know—

That stranger was Sambhav.

And meeting him would change everything.

Because some storms don't pass.

They become part of you.
